Which hotel to stay at in Los Angeles?

Me and my girlfriend are both planning a trip to LA in September.

My main dilemma is which hotel to stay at/or area.
We will be renting a car, but still want to be as close to most attractions as possible.

My girlfriend loves shopping, especially designers such as Gucci, LV, Dior etc etc So could anyone reccommend the shopping havens (I like those retail outlets with amazing discounts ;D)

Our budget for the hotel is roughly 800 for 12 nights.
So could someone please suggest any decent and clean hotels in good locations.

Thanks in advance.

I stopped in a travelodge, I thinlk it was on the Santa Monica freeway, cheap, clean and fairly close to everything
My advice is to check out hotel booking websites such as expedia.co.uk, or some of the hotel chain websites, for a good deal.

If you are travelling around by car the precise location of the hotel should not be too much of an issue.

For what its worth, a year or so ago, I stayed in a hotel in central LA, although the hotel parking was extortionate, after 6pm there was lots of free street parking available just had to make sure you were on your way, the following day, before 8am.
Cant recommend the hotel I stayed at although it was 4*, Basil Fawlty seemed to be running the place.
Be careful out there londonlad888, LA is a S*******E of a place. Take care driving and i would recommend only driving in the daylight or at night if you are completely certain where your hotel is.
