Yes. (Although there was one time, whilst on thw way out to Majorca in the early 80s, when the ride was so bumpy the masks fell down, the landing so hard and the braking so erractic and the taxi so uncontrolled, that the passengers clapped out of joy to be alive. Did I cringe then? No I did not! Must of been a bad day at the office for the pilot)
Yeah it does my head in. No-one claps when I finish a set of accounts. I'm so unappreciated. Sob Sob.
Yes I do cringe. Who applauds a bus driver for reaching his destination in one piece regardless of the timetable? The one exception was on a BMI flight to Ibiza when we didn`t even feel the wheels touch the runway. The pilot was clapped for his professionalism and showed how it could be done.
I've only ever been on nine aeroplane flights, and the last one was in 1986, and I don't ever remember the pasengers clapping at the end. I suppose I would cringe if it did happen.

That reminds me of another thing - I hate it when the audience interrupts a singer by applauding just after the beginning of a song. The only explanation that I can think of is that they somehow feel the need to show off their knowledge by indicating that they recognise what song it is; and never mind ruining the enjoyment of those of us who want to listen to it properly.
Yes it does make me Cringe, but a few months ago after flying in from Rome, people started "crossing" themselves (the crucifix sign) when the plane landed
Yes, like when people clap at the cinema.
I do cringe, but it's just a subconcious release of tension, like laughing when something unpleasant happens. People are strange, as Jim Morrison said.
I clap everytime because I'm happy to be alive! I hate flying with a passion and end up getting so wound up about it I have panic attacks mid flight and hyperventilate so I don't cringe, I'm the one everyone cringes at! Well it's better than them staring at me because I'm working myself into such a state!
YES I DO! Peasents! It's usually people who travel on their 2 week annual pilgrimage, to Salou who are the clappers!
Yeah, I thought it looked like they were peasants when they did that. Its so undignified.
