Super Rich backlash.
There have been a couple of incidents, which may be the start of a worrying trend, of ordinary people being nasty to arrogant showoffy rich folk...

This question raises several points.
Was Mr. Briatore putting putting people in danger by landing his boats on a crowded beach?
Is it a simple case of jealousy?
The restaurant owner was absolutely right to refuse Mr. Abramovich entry to his restaurant if it was fully booked. I wouldn't expect other people to be bumped off the list because I turned up without making a reservation. He is no different.
We most certainly should not take a lead from 'the plucky Italians' and turn on the super rich. It comes down to a thing called manners of which the majority of modern society has no knowledge.
I will admit that some of the so-called super rich do behave in the most appalling way but most do not. In many cases it is based on pure envy.

Please do not confuse envy and jealousy, Lucy. One is jealous of what one has (eg a jealous husband), and envious of what one has not.
But actually, both would be very good reasons for hurling ordure at the rich. Not Elton John, though; I never liked his songs much, but he keeps many indigent florists in business.
