I am a UK citizen living in the US. I want to drive my car to Brazil... What countries will I need visas to get into? Do you see me having trouble getting there? I know I am nuts.

It sounds like a great trip! I suppose it would be best to contact the embassies of the countries concerned (Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia and Brazil). Maybe you would also need to consider El Salvador and Venezuela depending on your route. Brazil is enormous - where would you be going? Assuming that you would return to the US, you would presumably need multiple-entry visas for your second passage through the various countries. This sounds like the makings of a good book.
You'll want to be very sure of how you're going to get your car (and yourself) from Panama into Colombia. The heavily forested - and dangerous - border area, known as the Darien Gap, is the one missing link in the Pan-American Highway, which otherwise runs from Alaska down to the southern tip of South America.

Greetings,

This isn't so much an answer as a related question.  I'm also considering driving to South America (Argentina) from the US, and I've been doing a lot of research into the matter.  Would you be interested in sharing some information and discussing the matter via e-mail?  I hope to hear from you soon.  And, like you, I'm a bit crazy :-)
