Only in soaps. How many can you think of?

The one I can remember furthest away in time is Eric Pollard from Emmerdale, when he was in Italy.

What is the allure of the soaps? Is it the fact that we can live vicariously, the thrill of being in a situation that we may never be in, or want to be in?

Should we want our soaps to have a moral climate, one where miscreants get punished for their deeds? Or is it enough that we can experience these crimes on the screen and then breathe a sigh of relief when we turn the OFF switch?

Are there some people so totally immersed in these daily stories that they believe, like Eric Pollard, and others in other soaps, that it`s OK to get away with crimes?

Tina, you've just jogged my memory - have the police stopped looking for Tom King's killer in Emmerdale?

I don't watch every episode, but I guess they don't know it was one of his sons that did it.

Donna's lacking - she should have cracked that by now.

[:o)
I don't watch any of the soaps so can't think of a single murder in any of them.

Hi Mrs C, Daniela, Leggy, Daffy.

Nice to hear from y`all.

Just watched Hamish MacBeth, he`s back. And it`s not considered morning TV, Ethel, since it was on at noon!
Hi, Tina.
I love Hamish MacBeth too. Lovely scenery where it was filmed. Plockton isn't it?
Amusing storylines, but sad too.

Hi Daniela, so glad I`m not alone. As I mentioned before, I was not in this country when it must have been originally screened and I only discovered it a few weeks ago. Yes, Plockton the setting, driving up to Scotland next spring and hope to make a quick visit there. x
That sounds lovely. I hope you enjoy it.
