Getting rid of trojan horse/virus? AntivirusPro2009.
Earlier today I had a message flash up that my computer had detected a threat and then it shut down almost immediately before I could click Remove All, and when I started it again it brought up a scan test by a program called AntivirusPro2009. I knew that I didn't use this antivirus program and didn't have it on my PC. When I googled it I saw that it is called adware and is a trojan horse. I'm not too sure about computers but can get by so I know these are bad things but am not sure exactly what they do.
Anyway I did a restore to last night on a mates advice and then when the computer restarted it said that it found a threat called a trojan horse and gave the options Heal, Ignore, Move to Vault and, I think, Cancel. I clicked Heal each time it came up which was 3 or 4 times, and it hasn't really come up since.
The thing is that I still see AntivirusPro2009 when I click Start then All Programs, it is on the list. There is an option there to Uninstall, but I am wary that that may actually cause it to lead to more problems. The thing is that it is not in the program list for Add/Remove Programs but, when it was in there, before I did the restore, when I tried to remove it a message would just come up saying "AntivirusPro2009 is already installed" and "OK". I've also found the file for it in my Program Files.
I realise this is a seriously long post but I'm just trying to give as much detail as I can to anyone who could potentially help. Obviously what I'm asking is, is there any way to permanently delete AntivirusPro2009 from my computer? Any help greatly appreciated, thanks.

if you'd rather not download anything else then your stuck with it then.
Antivirus2008 doesn't just install it's self into program files, it puts several files in the windows directory and several entries into the registry. If you start trying to delete these without knowing exactly what your doing then you will end up with a non working computer.
the free version of adaware will get rid of it and it is a good idea to have some anti malware/spyware software on your machine.

But if you don't want to download anything else then it was pointless you asking the question in the first place, because all the answers are going to tell you to download and install anti malware software to combat malware installed on your PC
