Passport requirements for Ireland

I am a UK Citizen, do i need a passport to visit Ireland or is a drivers licence sufficient

hi, hanni. re visit to ireland ; as a uk citizen, you do not need a passport. my mate + i went to ireland on the ferry from hollyhead last year no trouble, though we did get searched by the same police on both the out + inward trip at hollyhead. enjoy your trip, mate the place is lovely. p.s. beer is expensive in center of dublin. jase.
