I am also travelling to Tunisia on the 19th of December with my family including 3 under 11s.  We are staying at the Sahara Beach Hotel.  I also have mixed feelings but am hoping for the best.  I have heard good and bad stories about this location, but I supose everyone has different taste.  We are going for Christmas for one week only.  I also hope the weather is good.  Some of the feedback said that not all the facilities are available in winter at some resorts.  Some have said that the locals have access to enter the complexes for the bars at night, also many beaches are not private so watch out for the hagglers.  Drink lots of branded bottled water and not the locally produced water.  Do not have ice cubes.  Only drink branded bottled soft drinks, apparently the locally produced soft drinks is made of powder and local water.  If you type in the name of your holiday resourt there should be several reports from tourists who have visited.
