Im looking at booking a holiday for the family to Alcudia in May 1st-10th. Ive got 2 young children who'll be 1 and almost 4 so i dont want anywhere too hot but not so cold that they wont be able to enjoy the beach and pool
Does anyone know what its usually like at that time of year?
I've been to Minorca in early May.
When it was cloudy it was too cool for the beach but when the sun was out it was lovely (not too hot for little people.)
Hi, the water may be a little too cold at the beginning of May for small children. But it should be nice enough for playing on it. There is a site that would give you a lot more information about Mallorca and that is the one below just click on the link.
I think it is just luck of the draw! We have been at various times throughout the year and it varies! Typically on our honeymoon in June 2000 we went and it was cold for nearly the whole 2 weeks! Walking on the beach was like being in the UK on a cold day, it was awful! That was unusual for June though.
If I were you I would either go later in the year or consider the canary islands which should be definitely warm enough.
Or go somewhere thats got an indoor pool just in case!
warm enough for the beach without the little ones burning, but the pool may be a little nippy
As it's dark by 8-9pm the evenings can be a bit chilly - take a zip-up top or cardy for yourself and the kids, and if it does get a bit too chilly for you, sit inside the restaurants rather than outside.
we laways used to go last 2 weeks of may when my kids were small - and always had a great time
