Listen to this......a friend of mine insists that if you are standing on the east coast of Ireland looking east you are looking towards the east coast of England. Where does he get this from: he's adamant about it. How does one convince him that he's full of, well, blarney?

No play on words in his thinking. He states that (if he could actually see it) the coast he's looking at is the EAST coast of England, or Scotland, for that matter.

Maybe he is thinking that he is looking beyond all of asia, europe etc, because as he said, if he could see it, that's what he would see
na..he's full of kack! newcastle and scarborough etc are on the east coast of england....liverpool and blackpool etc are on the coast that faces ireland...the WEST coast!

Zac, he is at ground level. Surely the east coast of England is much closer to France than Ireland.

He is looking at WEST coast of England or Scotland that is it, end of story, no ifs no buts he is looking west.
if you are talking about the metaphysical poets, not sure here lol
well looking east but seeing the west coast if I am making sense, ot if he was in Eire he could see the WEST coast of Wales.
