my partner and i are looking for ideas for cheap days out and meals in south east england any ideas

Beachy Head is spectacular (and free).  I think that there is a pub at Birling Gap:

If not, there will be one around there somewhere.  Go for the dressed local crab perhaps washed down with a nice English wine from one of the Kent vineyards.
