Last year my borther and I had a fabuluous return journey from Latour-de-Carol to Villefranche on the Petit Train Jaune in the Pyrenees. We will be returning but would love to own a dvd and/or decent guidebook (in French or English) on the train inc. history and photos (we took hundreds of pics but they never seem to convey the wonder of the journey) - any ideas greatly appreciated, recently failed with a bid on ebay for a book by Pierre Cazenove "Le train Jaune de Cerdagne", would happily buy if available anywhere! To anyone travelling to the Eastern Pyrenees try the train and if possible try the open carriage, it's totally ace! Thanks!

don't know if this'll work....

if not, go to their home page, click "superstore" and search "train jaune". It's 23.50.

brilliant trip! and if you have time, get out and explore - st thomas-les-bains (hot springs), the fort at villefranche and awesome walking country all the way up the valley.
The book celebrating 100 years of the railway isn't cheap, but possibly worth considering:

You can get a DVD for 23.50 here:

There's some great stuff on this on Youtube.

I haven't made it there yet, but one day I will.

Thanks everybody you're all fab! I've ordered the DVD, can't wait for it to arrive, going back this summer - thanks for all the suggestions and help, really want to visit the Caranca Gorges - this train is so cool!..the mountain we could see from around Font-Romeu (Cambre d'Ase) looks fantastic, hopefully we'll get up it this summer! To anyone visiting this area go and see Les Orgues just N. of Ille-sur-Tet (on the rail line or bus route between Villefranche and Perpignan) - quite wonderful, I love the Pyrenees!
the gorges de caranca is a favourite walk - if you google images of "caranca passerelles" you can look at the catwalks and wobbly bridges that take you right up the gorge - and no safety rails for much of the way!
