Thanks that was quick,History ,old buildings, places where @things' have happened.
Tower of London is very good. You can spend ages in there
John Soames Museum (recommended to me last time I went) and jsut around the corner - Freemasons Hall.

Google both (and both are free entry)
Science museum.
St Pauls Cathedral might interest you then!
"places where things have happened"

You could try The City or the Bank of England and see the aftermath of today's G20 "peaceful protest" ?
the book"rough guide to London" is full of information,
well worth buying
If you are only there one day you will not be able to see too much. It is best to try to see a few things in the one area rather than rushing all over london.

If I was taking someone to London and only had one day I would start down by the river, near Big Ben & Houses or Parliment.

Walk past Parliament and Westminster Abbey (or go in the Abbey), then up Whitehall, going past 10 Downing Street, then the Cenotaph.

Continue up Whitehall (which was the site of a HUGE palace in Henry VIIIs time) to Trafalgar Square.

Leave Trafalgar Square down Pall Mall (where the Marathon finishes) and go to Buckingham Palace.

Behind you is St James Park which is a great park to stroll around with loads of ducks and birds eating out of your hand, and a quick stroll takes you back where you started the walk.

If you did that walk it only covers a couple of miles but could take you half a day or more if you stopped and looked at some of the sights.

And by doing that walk you see the home of our Government, Church, Royal Family, pay respects to our war dead, and see a load of interesting buildings, history, and statues on the way.

I cant think of a better way to introduce yourself to London.
In fact here is a web site with a similar walk to that I described above.

I dont think you could find anywhere in London that could pack so much of interest in such a small area.

Why not get on an open top bus? You'll see all the sights and if any particularly interest you, you can get off and explore and then get back on again.

We always do this in a new city - great way to get 'a feel'. Have fun!
i hear they like to riot a bit !!
Absolute vodka ice bar is fantastic every thing is made of ice
try http:www.favourite-places.info

everything you need from airports to zoos....great for satnav owners
That site above is a TERRIBLE TERRIBLE site.

Very amateurish.

And what sort of person puts dark blue text on a black background.

I am not sure if it is your web site, but suggest you make a proper job of designing it before promoting it.
Mentioned on the append above about drak blue text on the black background.

Well it was when I first went to it, then after about 30 seconds the black background went grey and made it more readable.

Not sure why the background should take so long to load, another sign of a badly designed site ?
what a moron you are VHG.

This site is totally free and is for satnav owners.
Obviously you do not own such a device or you would understand the purpose of the site and not be so eager to condemn it.
