They are according to their website.
Wizz Air is not listed as an ABTA member on the ABTA website:
http://www.abta.com/find-a-holiday/member-sear ch
(I would have been very surprised if they were. ABTA represents travel agents, not individual airlines).

Any reference to ABTA membership on the Wizz Air website is almost certainly relates to their partner company, Octopus Travel, which provides hotel booking services.

Package holidays, including a flight, have to be protected under the ATOL scheme, as are flight-only arrangements booked through a tour operator. There is no statutory protection scheme for flights booked directly with an airline. Your only 'official' course of action is to take action through the courts. However an 'unofficial' route, such as involving the media, might be easier and more productive.

do you have a case? Why do you want your money back?

yep, that sounds like a case.

You could try going to someone like Gill Charlton, who sorts out similar problems for Telegraph readers

Thanks all
With all due respect Infomaniac, I wouldn't go too much by what they say on their own website.
