Some friends of ours are cruising for the first time this summer, and have realised that one of their number has a phobia about using a lift to get to and from different decks,so they have asked me to come on here and ask if there are staircases that will enable them use. They have tried to contact P &O without success. Please help. Thanks.
I havent been on the ventura ship but all the P&O ships i have been on have staircases next to every lift. THe P&O website probably has a deck plan showing it, i'll go have a look for you now.
No cruiseliner would be given a sea-worthiness certificate if inter-deck access relied solely upon the use of lifts. You can be confident that there will be stairs available. In fact, if you examine the deck plans, you'll see that the stairs are directly opposite the lifts. e.g. this is one end of A Deck: http://www.pocruises.com/DeckOverlay.axd?ShipN ame=Ventura&DeckName=A%20Deck
(Use the drop down menus to view plans of other parts of the ship).
if you click on the link that says deck plan next to any of the floor levels you should be able to see the pic of the stairs next to the lifts.
I've just thought I hope your fiend is reasonably fit as you tend to do quite a lot of swapping floors and if you're going from your cabin on F deck up to say the sports deck then that is a good 9/10 flights of stairs!
About lift phobia; there are those who can get into a lift if there are other people in it but would never get in on their own or with just one other person AND there are those who won't get into a lift if there ARE other people in it but would get in on their own.
The only website to use re cruises is:http://boards.cruisecritic.com/index.php
There is a link to P&O, there is a link to what to do in Ports of Call and there is a link to the Roll Call which is communicating with others on boards. Ventura has had some terrible reviews so good luck!!
