Can anyone tell me any names of hotels that are within walking distance to the North Terminal at Gatwick? So far I have the Sofitel which is attached to the airport. Thanks

I think the Hilton is attached to the south terminal- then you can get the transit train free to the North.

There is also something like a travellodge which is a few minutes walk from the North Terminal, but not attached. All the others are not within walking distance., but are reached by transfer buses.
Your options within walking distance are extremely limited. The only hotels actually within the airport complex are the Sofitel and Hilton.

The Best Western Gateick Moat House Hotel claims that it's only half a mile from the airport but that might just be to the entry road. The actual terminals might be quite a bit further away.

It might be better to consider a hotel which offers a free (or cheap) transfer service to the airport.

The Southbourne Guest House (in Horley) provides free airport transfers between 0930 and 2130.

The Mercure Hotel (also in Horley) only charges 3 per person for airport transfers.

The Gatwick Corner House (again in Horley) offers free transfers from 0600 to 2400.

Thanks for that - I have looked at the Mecure and that could be a good option as it's half the price of the Sofitel. I Can't decide if its worth paying the extra 50 quid to stop on the north terminal!
If it's in your budget, pay a bit extra and stay at the Sofitel.

It's a really lovely hotel.

And ... you walk out of the lobby, up the ramp, and you're at the check-in desk ... where you will stand, smugly, with your little overnight bag, if you checked in your luggage the night before.

I only live in Brighton, so really handy for Gatwick, but I sometimes stay at the Sofitel, just because it's so nice, and so easy.

they're closing the monorail between north and south terminals next month for a spot of refurb, so if you're going then remember to factor in a bit more time to make the trip via shuttle bus.

Thanks everyone - think I've made my mind up with the Sofitel!
