bumped to economy

Depart London Gatwick on Monarch Airlines for Delhi.Using Kuoni travel.
Paid for economy plus seat one month in advance, two days before I fly I am being downgraded to economy on a charter flight. Told to like it or lump it. No refund except the difference in price for economy. Can they get away with this?

It depends, but usually yes... if you have a copy of the contract... generally the back of your ticket if you have a paper ticket... there is usually a clause to the effect that should something happen, once they are still able to provide the service you have to make the most of it and accept it.  Should it go to court, it's likely that the court will tell you the same thing because it's minimising your loss and the company's loss therefore creating the best scenario all around while keeping in spirit with the contract.  It would be different on the other hand had you paid for first class seats for example, because a major part of the contract would be travelling in comfort.  Hope this helps!

Can understand you being well piddled off but if you`re still getting to your intended destination AND getting a refund of the price difference you may be just as well to accept it.  Any legal action wouldn`t be cost effective or very likely to succeed........... but for the cost of a stamp a letter to their HQ might produce a result.

Can I say Monarch is still a charter flight. The only difference is that you won't have the lovely meals and service that Monarch offers in the economy plus.
