Am going to Google for late availability holidays to Greece, ideally a quite island. Haven't been before. Anyone any recomendations for either a good late avail website, or a greek island that is more suited a to a quite holiday, tavernas in a fishing harbour type of thing, rather than party till u drop nite clubs. Thanks

My daughter went out in evenings with a group of young people and I did my own thing including lots of solo walks and never felt worried. The locals are really friendly esp if you learn a few words......asking for a coffee in Greek and a simple thank you and hello did it every time. Boat trip to smuggler's beach not worth it in my opinon.
Most of Crete, especially the West side is nice and relaxing. Head up towards the mountains,it's beautiful, quiet and friendly. Good tavernas, nice beaches etc. Rethymno or Chania are bigger towns that are worth seeing and not much for the club crowd who probably head for larger places on the east side of the island.
i have been to Skiathos twice - a lovely island, quite rustic and low key. The landing strip at skiathos airport is a scary experience though - its very, very short. Planes usually take off with very little fuel in them (need less runway as they are lighter) and then need to land on the greek mainland to fuel up before heading back to uk.
Strange-unless they've changed the rules since I was there-I flew direct to Skiathos and back from UK-and yes it is another beautiful and quiet greek island and I was going to suggest it,but there's just a bit more to do and look at in Crete unless you want to just laze around all day, depends what you want and how long you're there.
