How big is york station. I'm travelling to from sheffield to scarborough soon and its quicker (by nearly an hour) if i change at york. but my connecting train at york only gives me about 10 minutes from getting off the sheffield > york train then getting on the york > scarbourgh train. i'm wanting to know if i'll have enough time to change when we have bags ang a young child with us.

cheers

cheers for the lightning fast response

As long as your train is not 10 minutes late !!!!

Then you may have to wait even longer than if you had taken the original train.

If I was you I would not risk it.
Because of the layout of the station, trains to Scarborough can only use platforms 3, 4 or 5, whereas cross country trains (from Sheffield) can use 5, 9, 10 or 11.

You may find both trains use platform 5; if the train from Sheffield arrives on Platform 9 it's a short cross-platform walk. However if the Sheffield train runs in on 10 or 11, you'll need to use the bridge. Watching the departure board for the last hour, it seems there's no hard or fast rules for platform use.
