Does any please know the name of an early type of computer language which is now obsolete?

DOS (or MS-DOS) is now obsolete in Windows XP.

 

It is still used by pc techies and the like, especialy when starting a pc install from a floppy disk following a format of the hard drive.

DOS - as the acronym suggests, is the operating system. From Computer Language I assume pamnez means a programming language.

 

But perhaps pamnez could make it clear. And maybe why?
