My best friend is going back packing starting off in Thailand (been a long time since I've been there) anyone got any up to date /current info reference currency.

What would be best to take - she has 4 days booked and paid for in a top quality hotel - like £12 for the 4 nights ....but for food etc - I said US dollars but not so sure now?

Thanks but back packing tends to be off the beaten track so wasn't sure and couldn't find much on google
Off the beaten track, change into Baht first as dollars are not widely accepted. Best way to do it (depending on UK bank charges) is from an ATM

Even in Bangkok, paying cash in dollars (where accepted) will be at a dreadful rate
change sterling in local exchange stalls - better rates than hotels & banks. Dont carry more than you can risk being thieved; plenty of them among the b-packers!
