Las Vegas - Grand Canyon Tours
Hiya folks,
Myself and 3 friends are going to Vegas in October and we're looking at doing a trip to the Grand Canyon. I was wondering if anyone can recommend a good company/tour?
Ideally we'd like to self drive ourselves from Vegas to the Canyon (to do the whole American diner thing!) and then have a helicopter ride in the canyon, then for us to drive back again.
Does anyone know of any good companies that are cheap?
Cheers, Wizard

To drive to the South Rim from Vegas takes 4 1/2 hours each way. About the same for the North Rim, buthere's only one accomodation within the National Park on the North Rim... the Grand Canyon Lodge. It's far less crowded on the North Rim, but keep in mind that some facilities shut down in mid-October.
The weather can be very cool at either Rim... dress appropriately.
Finally, here's a good overview of the diffrences between the three avialble destinations at the Canyon...
