website for airline routes

Is there a website please giving details of which airlines fly which routes, i;e. you can put in a departure and arrivals destination and it will tell you which carriers operate that route. I am fed up of googling direct flights between X and Y, receiving a deluge of suggested flights and then finding they are not direct at all but require a change, usually in Gatwick, Heathrow or Amsterdam. Right now I want to find details of direct flights between Manchester and Montreal. How do I do it please?

All UK airports have a list of destinations and operators on their websites. So (as long as you're travelling to or from a UK airport) those websites should always be regarded as your most reliable source of information. Here's the list for Manchester airport:

You'll see that there are no direct flights to Montreal. The only direct flights to Canada are to Calgary (with Fly Flobespan and Thomas Cook), Toronto (with Air Transat, Fly Globespan and Thomas Cook) and Vancouver (with Fly Globespan and Thomas Cook).

Most overseas airports also provide similar information. (The major is exception is the USA, which has some of the world's worst airport websites). If you want to consider connecting via one of the Canadian airports served from Manchester, you'll need this list:

I've not researched specific connections but my first thoughts, looking at those links, are that you should consider travelling via Amsterdam (because KLM fly both legs, so through ticketing should be available) or via Toronto (because it has very frequent flights to/from Montreal, with a flight time of just 1 hour 20 minutes).
