Although i feel we are fairly well travelled we are going on a cruise to the caribbean in a few weeks time which is our first one. Im wondering whether my straightners will work (they dont in all parts of the world!) and also what plug adaptors are needed on a cruise ship (if at all)? Is there anything else i ought to take or anything that i would usually take that i wont be able to use? ie iron? any tips or advice would be much appreciated. thanks so much

I have some travel straighteners, Babylis, I think, which are great.

They run off one of those little energy cells.

They were only about £30.

You are supposed to buy the cells at the other end, because they contain liquid a bit like lighter fuel.
Take with you ... seasick pills ...

Lots and lots of them.

And a couple of small buckets.
I usually cruise to the Caribbean with P&O.......onboard sockets are the same as at home...
There are a few onboards launderettes so you won't need to take your own iron....also if you can't be arsed to iron yourself just give them to your cabin steward and he will get them done for you.
If you forget anything there are always plenty of onboard shops.....

what adaptors depends on what ship, British or American (or other). Ditto laundrettes, not every ship has them. Your travel agent, or the cruise line itself, should be able to tell you; or you could look at online cruise chatrooms, eg http://www.cruise.co.uk/
A lot depends on who you are cruising with. Royal Caribbean have 110V and 240V sockets, but you need a US adaptor. To get answers specific to your cruise join www.cruisecritic.com
What cruise ship/line are you going on - we cannot help you without this minor piece of info.

Irons not allowed on any cruise line as they are a major fire hazard.
