Chip & Pin
2 Answers
Is anyone else still waiting for their Chip & Pin debit card to be activated? I am with Bank of Scotland/Halifax & I have a chipped card which is not yet activated & still have to provide a signature. I read that as of Jan 1 it is the card holders responsibilty & not the banks to ensure that they are not a victim of fraud. If they have not activated it then surely they are still liable?

Call them to get more detail. Also as posted above, your fraud concerns are misplaced. Unless you've been demonstrably careless with the security of your card/PIN etc then you are not liable.
Demonstrably careless includes "I gave the card on my single account to my wife to withdraw a tenner and somehow 500 was debited!!"
