Following on from bobbi's thread, the good old days weren't that good.

Things I don't miss are;
No central heating, outside toilets, tin baths in front of the fire.
Being battered at school by the teachers.
Polio, diphtheria & whooping cough.
Crap food in restaurants...Berni Inns.
No Indian take aways:-(
Vegetables being boiled for hours on end.
Lard.
Boils.
Passenger planes that didn't crash...Remember Dan Air

Being able to travel anywhere in the country on decent roads. Before the motorways it took hours to get anywhere!

very good point there carrust, but we got on with life then because we had to
We haven't got any motorways in Norfolk carrust!! (or many decent roads). I am glad we have no motorways though, it keeps people out!!

Did people seriously boil vegetables for hours?
Ooh Jan I used to love a dip in the meat juices with bread on Sundays and a fry up on Sunday night..yummy
I'm happy to be locked in Norfolk!! I do get out on occasions though. Born and bred in London, and now a complete Norfolk Dumpling :o)
Ummmmmmmmm. We knew it was 1st December because Gran put the Xmas Dinner sprouts on!
As one of five it was a fight to get in the tin bath first !!!!!

Scratchy home made knitted jumpers.
I don't miss blankets and sheets either. My first duvet was purchased in 1972 - it was bliss.
Don't forget the frozen toilet in the outhouse.

Reminds when mum used to say somebody go and have a bath the back boiler is bouncing and bubbling you could hear
