Visiting Arundel tomorrow and haven't decided whether to train or car it. What's parking like there? Any tips?

Like most places, the further you are willing to walk, the better the chance of finding free parking.
I seem to recall one of the bigger car-parks (paid for) is along the A27 to the east of the town - across the water-meadow, near where the rail station is anyway.

If you ever decide to come by car to Brighton in the future, may I suggest parking at Hove Town Hall. It's very reasonable. The car park in Arundel is just down from the Castle. Arundel is very small so you can't really miss the car park. I don't know about parking charges. I thinks it's run by NCP. The train station is also right in the middle of the town and is only a few minutes walk from the castle and the river. Whatever you decide to do, have a good day. Arundel is really very nice and there are lots of good places to eat.
Yes the old bookshop is still there and still great. Plenty places to eat. If you're only wanting a light lunch then The country Kitchen,or The Bay Tree or Belinda's. They are all in Tarrant Street. There are pubs if you want a pub lunch. Also, at the end of Mill Road is the Wildfowl and wetland trust are there are several places nearby there. You've made my mind up for me, I've decided to go to Arundel next week before the school holidays and the Easter crowd start arriving.
I've just come back from Ford near Arundel this morning - the castle looks lovely in the sunshine, as it always does.
The Young Victoria starring Emily Blunt was filmed there recently amongst others -

In addition to what you've been told, Backdrifter, you may be able to park for free on the road leading up to Swanbourne Lake/Wetlands etc, which is under the castle near the river, where the pitch and putt golf pitches are.
Enjoy the day there. Great place and so quaint.

Had a job in Arundel this afternoon...parking in the high street was free for up to an hour....
If you drop down the high street and turn left at the small roundabout...you can park below the castle ...I'm sure it's free with a time restriction...the Arun district Council monitor the parking.
Carry on along that road towards the wild fowl trust and you can park by the boating lake for free...go another half mile as Quentin has already recommended...and you have the Black Rabbit Pub a riverside location that would be hard to beat for lunch.

Coming in to town from, I think, the east just before the bridge we saw a car park advertising itself at Arundel's cheapest. It was almost empty and had seen better days, but it was only £2 for 4 hours, I think. It was next to the lido. We then walked up the street, past the Co-op, and over the bridge. We've visited the castle before so it wasn't a high priority, we concentrated on antiques shops and Kim's the wonderful bookshop. And I can't rcommend highly enough Grounds cafe, the food is excellent and the staff are wonderful, friendly and helpful.
