Just had a job offer in Southampton.

Would like a really nice, safe area to live in near Southampton or Bournemouth.

Thank you

Lucky you, I went after a job in Southampton a few years back, gutted not to get the opportunity to move there.
Move to Brighton ... the nicest town in the UK.

I already suggested Hythe in your previous question about living in Bournmouth

Bosham is gorgeous, don't know how near it is though.
I also have a relative who lives in Ashurst which is quite nice.

It is on the edge of the New Forest and is not far from Southampton.

There is also a train station in Ashurst that I believe goes into Southampton.

I have a friend who lived in Netley Abbey for a while, just outside Southampton, he liked it. I understand that the further west you go the more expensive it gets, as you are moving them into the New Forest area which is pricy!

Google Maps say about 28 miles.
Beuliegh is lovely
While I have not lived in that area I have spent a lot of time driving round there as the company I worked for had a lot of offices in the area.

The problem for traffic is that the whole area is cut off by the sea in the South, the estuary at Southampton, and Portmouth harbour. You have also have the New Forest in the way which causes a lot of problems for traffic due to narrow roads.

So almost all the traffic finishes up driving from West to East or East to West (unless it comes down the M3 from the North).

So you have thousands and thousands of people driving along the same basic corridor, making it a traffic nightmare.

So think VERY VERY carefully where you want to live before buying anything. Also practice driving the route DURING rush hour before buying anywhere, to see how long it takes.

You may find a 10 miles or 20 miles journey takes FAR longer than you think in the rush hour, and you dont want to be stuck doing it every day.
>Beuliegh is lovely

I assume you mean Beaulieu.

It is, but it is also VERY touristy, and as it is in the New Forest it is VERY expensive.
Are you looking to buy a house?

If so how much have you got?
VHG thanks for the correction
The bottom line is, lots of places you visit seem like ideal places to live, until you actually live there.

thank you for your answers.

VHG, thank you for all of your suggestions. We are looking to rent a nice house first before we buy.
I looked for a rental in Hythe and there was only one property, so i am having to expand the areas I look for.
