Morning all :)

Presuming 90% have some knowledge about all flights in the UK suspended due to volcanic ash. It was yesterday planned to resume fights starting 7am this morning however just heard on the news, the delay has now been extended until at least 7pm this evening. Just thought I'd mention it and also see if anybody has;

- Been effected by the delays or know anybody that has (tell us details like airport ect)
- Had plans to fly either yesterday or today? and if so, where to ect ect ??

And last thing, if you are effected and have a flight booked, then contact the airline and you may be fully refunded as some people have been refunded so is advised to contact airline and speak with them, and if you are trying for refund then Good luck!! (your likely to need it :( )

My mate was supposed to be flying back from Afghanistan yesterday. Instead of coming to the UK, he was dropped off in Cyprus and has been told it's going to be another 3-5 days before he gets back. This is after 6 months away. He's half tempted to swim back instead lol

could they maybe hire a car and drive back to manchester and apart from being easier to hire a car as it will be roughly same price as train fares and can drop off at man airport so its quite conveinant suppose in that way ?
My son in law has been working in Spain and should have been home yesterday, but he had to stay in Spain last night. He caught the ferry to England today and is now stuck in Dover, my daughter is driving down from Bucks to pick him up, his car is at Luton airport. Think I've heard everything now, leaves on the line, floods, snow, ice, and now hot ash.

Your son will be glad once finally home then, as what seems to be alot of time travelling to Dover will be long & tiring once finally home and your daughters very kind to go and pick him up !!
Just spoken to my mate in cyprus via FB. There is about a thousand ruffled around the boa squaddies there now. People are going insane with it. You've got casulaties who can't get back as well, although for the serious ones, apparantley they've got workarounds

be no suprise if flights are delayed until some time during the week. Is what all continual additon to delays suggest quite strongly but only can see what the outcome anytime leading into tomorrow and see if delays are extended once more
am i right in thinking if insurance company wont pay out for cancelled flight/holiday if it was paid for on a credit card you could still be reimbursed?
I work in a Post Office and we had a memo today to say that people who had already bought travel insurance through the Post Office are covered, but if you bought the travel insurance today then you're not covered as you were already aware of the volcanic ash.
Question Author
Think each Airline has own set rules for refunds. Have to say in all honesty some airlines will be trying to avoid refunds and others not any problems so will be headlines for next week's Daily mail for sure
brought the insurance a couple of months ago

Last time it happened at this volcano, it lasted two years.

But something similar happened in hawaii, and a plane crashed (in the 80's i think).

My cousin near Birmingham can't get time off work! They're getting a ferry today, then a train to manchester, staying with a relative there overnight, then driving home tomorrow.
