We have NO wish to do this, but does anyone know if we can drive out to watch others (not from the actual jump but from the side) Thanks.

As far as I know there are spectators for the bungy jumping, my son in law did the jump, he has the video to prove it.

Yes you can watch from the original Bungy site. Have a look at http://www.bungy.co.nz/index.php/pi_pageid/189 this shows a clip from the bridge.

If you need accommodation please look at www.pinewood.co.nz

Thanks Jamie
Nothing to do with New Zealand but I watched the bungy jumping in Normandy when my husband was going to jump. After seeing the faces on these people who were really scared stiff I couldn't hack it and went down to the bottom to at least see the relief on their faces once they'd done it!

Thanks for replies. I am looking forward to our visit to NZ I agree with you
coccinelle - they couldn't pay be enough to do that ! they must be mad, but I
like watching it on TV. Thanks for the video clip Jamie - it was great !
You are so lucky going to Queenstown, the place is beautiful, take a walk around the lake, the people are so friendly. Walk up the hill towards the bungy jump and you can take a ride up past the jump, there is a tourist type viewpoint with a restaurant so high up, don't know how they built it - and you can actually look down onto the bungy jump. Sorry having a senior moment, can't remember the name of the transport you go up in, but the view is wonderful and you can see your mates jumping - have a great time.

Thank you Smurfchops - we will have a hire car, so perhaps we can park near to the restaurant and viewpoint. I am sure Queenstown will be all we expect. I am looking forward to Milford Sound too. Before that we are going to Bay of Islands and Rotorua and Napier, and lots of other places too.
The other two trips that stand out in my mind are Whale Watching in Kaikoura and a train journey to Arthur's Pass, amazing scenery.
If I ever win the lottery, New Zealand's top of my list. My dad was given a chance to emigrate out there in the 70s and my mum wouldn't go. Never forgave her!
