Disney Florida
Any recommendations for hotels or apartments? Had thought about staying in a Disney hotel, but a) very expensive b) want to visit Universal too and c) may feel a bit 'trapped' in Disney.
Would be for a mixed age family group.
Thanks.

You have your own space, and more importantly (especially for the children), your own pool. The villas are VERY well equipped with ovens, the big American fridge/freezers, microwaves, washing machine, tumble dryer, TV etc. Many of them have playstations and have also converted the garages into games rooms with table football, table tennis etc in there. We did do some cooking, but did also ate out a lot as it is cheap, very good, and huge portions. There are thousands of villas within 20 minutes drive of Disney and I'm sure you would find one suitable for your group.
Stay at the Polynesian.
The End.
Don't stay off the Disney complex.
Disney is not the size of a normal theme park ... it's the size of a British county !!!
And ... if you stay on the complex ... your room key pass covers everything ... meals, entry to the parks, rides, transfers ... the lot !!
DO NOT consider any alternatives.

The Polynesian is worth it. And it's SOOO convenient ... just hopping on the shuttle outside the hotel door, and getting off at the entrance to the theme parks !
Seriously ... don't stay off the Disney resort.
It's SOOOO big !!!
If you stay anywhere else in Orlando, it's like visiting London, and staying at a hotel in Bedfordshire.
