umlauts and accents

how do you but little dots over a word, use accents and things? I know they are on here somewhere but i've forgotten how you do it.

I don't think you can on a UK keyboard !

I have used keyboards in Spain and they have them

I know how to do the acute accent é á = control+alt+e (or a)

I don't know how to do the others on a UK keyboard

I normally do it in word 9using insert symbols) then copy and paste into my AB answer. Or I just find the word/symbol on the web and paste it into AB

My 'real' name has an accent and the lack of this knowledge has forced me to use the 'Microsoft word' programme in order to have one, so I'd certainly be interested to know how to do it directly from the keyboard.

Have another go, carlton23. Others who were recently on the point of giving up got there in the end.

Create your text in a Word doc. Use Insert/Symbol to find the required letters then copy/paste.

Not all sites will support this but AB does
