If you have an account with Nationwide Building Society (and I believe one or two others too) they don't charge a premium for withdrawing money in the EU. We find that safer than carrying cash, and means you only draw out what you need - and don't have the hassle of changing back any leftovers. Have a lovely holilday - we've been twice to Croatia, we loved it.
Thanks boxtops, My account is with Nationwide, so I would be using the ATM when I get there, but just needed some to start with as I am flying into Ljubljana (Slovenia),so will have to wait until the next morning to get anything changed, and as Im travelling on my own I like to be organised. It sound s great
It's always our first stop, owllady, collect the luggage then get cash for taxi or transfer and for immediate expenses. It just means you don't need to change notes or travellers' cheques, your cash is there in your hand! Otherwise when we did take cash, we always found the Post Office here a good place to get them, fair rates and no commission.
