But I live in Hicksville, we don't have motorways....!

My BF thinks it's hilarious and hillbilly that, at the ripe (very ripe) old age of 48 I have never ever driven a car on a motorway, I've only ever been a passenger. I've driven on dual carriageways, lumpy bumpy long winding dangerous Fenland roads. I've driven on local roads in Spain, France & Holland - but motorway, solo, no.
My county does not have a motorway. Our nearest is probably 50 miles away in another county. So he cannot understand that I am a tad nervous about the following car journey I will be undertaking in 5 days' time, on my own:-
Lincolnshire to Cambridgeshire, down the A1 and then the A1M to the M25 down to terminal 5 at Heathrow. Then the following morning from Heathrow across the country down to Truro in Cornwall via the M4 and the M5. Then 10 days later, from Plymouth up to Cardiff on lordy knows what motorway.
Should I get Sat Nav? Am I being a big Hicksville rural baby? At 48 and driving now for 26 years, should I really be so nervous? Help me ladies (men will just think I'm being a plonker girlie).

You'll be fine on the motorways - they're straightforward if you keep in the left hand lane unless overtaking - whatever you do don't stick in the middle lane when there are spaces in the left lane.
I'm 70 this year and have no problems with them. (I'm in Lincs too, by the way).

Yes, but I shall be expected to stay behind & follow the BF (we need 2 cars because we're picking up his family from Seattle - too many for one car & they're too cheapskate to hire a people carrier for the month).
The BF goes along at 70 - 85, usually in the middle or the fast lane. I think I shall just get a satnav and ignore him.

Sorry about the previous post I hit a wrong button, I was going to say you'll be fine salla, just drive along as you normally do. The only thing I would say is keep an eye out for any road signs, junctions can sneak up on you on a motor way and if you miss a turn you have to carry on to the next junction to get off, and don't let anybody intimidate you with the old flashing lights etc you get that kind of *** on every road, it's just you seem to get more on motorways
Salla, do you want me to chauffer for you? I really don't mind. My rates are £15ph, although this increases to £25ph if my time on the road exceeds a set period (usually 1 and a half hours).
If you want me to drive then just email me (donelikeakipper@youvesobeenhadmuwahahahahah.

and we can arrange the deposit of £1000

If you can fly on your own then the motorway will be dawdle.
