i'm going to madrid in early april and would like to know bars/clubs where students and the young crowd go to. if anyone can push me in the right direction it would be nice.

Shooters, just off Gran Via is an excellene late night acid jazz/pool bar. My favourite in the city.
Also, try "Ducados" near puerto del sol for more typical banging chart dance music. There is an Irish bar near there called "fontaine del oro" which is full of students upstairs, and downstairs has many young professionals who pay the slightly higher waitress service prices at the tables.

Yes - I was going to say go to the Puerta del Sol in the late afternoon - evenings as millions of young folk gather there - no idea why - but beware pick pockets.  Have a good time - Madrid is super.
