Taking camera through airport...

Hi,

I'm going on my holidays next week (yay!) and I want to take my DSLR camera with me. Is it ok to put through the x-ray machines or does it ruin the camera/memory card etc?

according to the photographers, they've never had a problem but paul said he always takes his memory card out just in case, tony doesn't bother
