Ok this year has anyone been to the USA on holiday having held a criminal conviction?
if so what did you go with? ESTA form? or a visa?
what was your conviction and how was it at customs

no personal experience of travelling with a conviction; but I have been to the USA many times and am seldom asked anything much - usually nothing more than 'How long are you staying?' I think you'd be deeply unlucky to be asked anything more than that, but I can't guarantee it could never happen.

My husband and I went to New York last week through JFK. He has a caution for Battery but decided to go on an Esta rather than applyin for a visa. He strolled through customs no questions asked, even though i was ill all the way over on the flight thinking I am going to be stranded. Decide if you can deal with the stress first !

It all depends what your crime is, sometimes the US authorities are informed. My husband had a motoring offence for drink driving (12 years ago) and had to get a visa from the US Embassy. If you go on the US Embassy website it will tell you all you want to know. Better to be safe than sorry! He got a visa for 10 years. Wouldn't want you to get their and be sent straight back!
