Hi, I'm Ric.ror's friend travelling to London tomorrow (I'm not that reluctant to travel!) My question is - our train is cancelled (11.05 from Leeds to Kings Cross), so can we board any other train for the same journey, does it have to be a later train or can it be earlier? I've tried the helpline but just seems to be recorded messages.....Thanks

From Train Company Website:-

All ticket holders are advised to travel on their booked train wherever possible. Customers with East Coast Advance tickets for cancelled services can travel on a service 2 hours before or after the train specified on the original booking.

Customers with pre-purchased Off-peak and Super Off-Peak tickets may travel on Peak trains, if they have been delayed by late running connecting services or their planned train has been cancelled. On Friday 3 December, Evening Peak restrictions for customers travelling from London Kings Cross have been lifted.

Customers whose train is cancelled and who therefore chose not to travel at all are entitled to a full refund, irrespective of ticket type with no administration fee.
