Checking-in with Ryanair at Prestwick Airport

I am sorry for sounding stupid but I have never flown with Ryanair before and I am flying to Tenerife on Thursday with my sister and I wondered if you checked-in in the normal way of going to a desk giving a person your passport etc and putting your luggage on the belt as someone mentioned that Ryanair does not have check-in desks and you have to check-in online. I have never done this before.
What I wanted to know is how do I do this, do I do it at the airport or can I do it at home, when do I do it, and can I check-in for flying out and coming in at the same time or do I have to find somewhere in Tenerife to it for coming back, also is there a charge for this as I have already paid £80 for two suitcases in the hold.

Not sure about Ryanair but Easyjet have an online checkin you do from home and then go to a quick check-in at the airport to hand over your bags. It does cost extra but saves a long queue at the airport hope this helps

You have to check in on-line before you travel with Ryanair JG. The idea is to reduce costs and staff by having you print off your own boarding pass at home and when you arrive at the airport you put your luggage into a 'Luggage Drop'. You are also expected to print off your return boarding pass at the same time as your outward one, unless you can access the Internet and a printer in Tenerife. I believe Ryanair still have check-in desks but they charge you £40 each for using them.


Of course you are not stupid for travelling by Ryanair. You would only be stupid if you had travelled with them before!

Ryanair has had operated a policy of COMPULSORY online check-in for quite some time now. YOU CAN NOT CHECK-IN AT THE AIRPORT.

Check-in for any flight commences 15 days before that flight, and ends 4 hours before departure. So, if you're away for a week or a fortnight you can check-in, in both directions, before departure. Otherwise you'll have to find an internet café (or similar facilities), while abroad, to check in for the return flight.

The check-in fee is £6 (or €6 for flights originating outside of the UK). However many tickets purchased with Ryanair are promotional offers, where the fee is waived. (I've never had to pay it). You MUST print out the confirmation you're provided with and you MUST present it at the airport. (If you don't, Ryanair will charge you £40 or €40, as appropriate, to print it out at the airport).

On arrival at the airport you simply take your bags to the bag drop desk and then proceed through security.

Thanks for the replies.
So can I check-in online today and print out everything I need for both the out going flight and the in coming flight at the same time or will I have to find somewhere in Tenerife to print my documents for coming back.

Print off your outbound and inbound (return) boarding pass(es) and flight confirmation now if you are going next week, and returning within 15 days time.
At the airport check in any (large) heavy cases that you have paid for on your initial booking, as you normally would, then go through security to departures.
