Yes, Tarom-Romanian Air Transport flies direct between Gatwick and Bucharest.

Check out expedia.com for other possible airlines/destination cities.
Hymie must be getting confused!

The Gatwick Airport website lists no flights to Bucharest (or, as far as I can see, to anywhere else in Romania)
http://www.gatwickair...flights/destinations/

The Tarom website shows flights only from Heathrow:
http://www.tarom.ro/en/

The Heathrow website shows Tarom and BA as operating from there to Bucharest Henry Coanda Airport (Otopeni):
http://www.heathrowai...nations+and+airlines/

The Otopeni website doesn't list destinations served but Wikipedia states
that those are the only flights from London:
http://en.wikipedia.o...International_Airport

The website for Bucharest Baneasa Airport show flights from only Stansted and Luton:
http://www.baneasa-ai...dex.php?pg=destinatii
but the Stansted website shows that the flights from there (with German Wings) include a stop in either Stuttgart or Cologne/Bonn.

Luton looks to be the best-served airport for flights to Romania, with flights to Bucharest Baneasa & Bacau (with Blue Air) and to Cluj-Napoca &Timosoara (with Wizz Air).

There are no flights from London City Airp
I blame too much Christmas spirit.

But it proves one of my theories, if no one has answered your question – get someone (me) to answer your question with nonsense – and sure as hell, someone will supply the correct answer.
