Everyone loves the feeling of organising and booking their next holiday. With advances in the internet many people can enhance that experience with videos, webcams and 360 degree tours of their destinations.

The option of booking accommodation, flights and travel insurance online has made organising a holiday more "pleasurable and interesting", it has been claimed by a leading travel agency.

BlueSky said technological advancements were making the whole experience of arranging an overseas getaway more enjoyable and simpler. Most mobile phone can now connect to the internet through "3G" services, meaning people can look for holiday ideas in the car or on long journeys.

The company also predicted future improvements would make matters even more straightforward in years to come.

Mark Fallon, managing director of the travel IT solutions' company, explained: "People are going to be able to access their bookings via mobile devices and that is where the leading innovation is going to go."

"You can now view videos of hotels and villas, see some of the local attractions around the area on Google Earth and read food and restaurant reviews of the local eating establishments before you set off, allowing you to choose if the area is suitable for you".

Elsewhere, a study by greenbee.com found 34 per cent of Brits allocate a day to trying to track down the best holiday deals available.

In comparison, 17 per cent spend the same time looking for their ideal destination.

Setting aside an hour or two to find the best travel insurance policy could allow holidaymakers to make significant savings.
