Byzantine Route

One of the longest routes around the island takes you past a number of Byzantine painted churches, listed by UNESCO as world heritage sites.

Lefkosia (Nicosia)

The 1000 year old capital sits right at the heart of the island, a busy modern commercial city. At its centre is the old quarter with narrow streets, overhanging balconies and a beautifully restored pedestrian precinct.
