Tunisia has become a hugely popular tourist destination in recent times, to such an extent that tourists often outnumber the locals in the summer peak season, with its mix of sandy beaches, constant sunshine and sparkling blue waters.

Explore Tunisia:
Once securing great resorts such as Sousse, Hammamet and Monastir why not explore and the area and relax on one of the gorgeous white sand beaches Tunisia has to offer. Saunter around the elegant Marina of Port El Kantoui with its stylish French restaurants and shops.

You could choose to take a walk into Medina, famous for its ancient walls, there are a number of shops and market stalls that line the narrow quaint streets to take your fancy.

Choosing to take a three-day jeep safari into the Sahara plains will open your eyes to the array of desert landscape and native architecture, which inspired George Lucas to shoot Star Wars on Tunisian soil.

Or simply relax and enjoy your holiday by witnessing the traditional entertainment, including belly dancing and other folklore traditions.

Getting Around:

The most obvious choice of transport in Tunisia would be by bus, which although cheap, tends to get rather packed due to large numbers of visitors, however taxis are inexpensive and on a meter so this could be a chosen form of transport while travelling around the country.

Other modes of transport:

The train network: Is a modern and efficient choice, they run on time and offer frequent journeys throughout the day between Tunis and Gabes via Sousse and Sfax.

Driving around Tunisia: The rounds are excellent and drivers are generally safe and courteous, however something to take note of is the huge number of moped drivers weaving in and out of traffic. And remember driving is on the right hand side of the road.

The Metro Leger (tram) network: which is much easier to use than buses, as well as a suburban train line (TGM) that connects the city centre with the northern suburbs.

Things to consider while visiting Tunisia:

However, as with any holiday, there are a number of tips that visitors should bear in mind when planning on heading to Tunisia. The tension in the country has been rising since the start of the Israeli military action in Gaza, which began on December 27th 2008. Since then there have been a number of demonstrations, as such travellers are advised to avoid such political gatherings and pay attention to any instructions from local authorities.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) also draws attention to the unfortunate but inevitable threat of terrorism and offers the following advice: There is a risk of kidnap in Tunisia from terrorists operating in the area of the Tunisia/Algeria border and we advise caution when travelling near the border area. As long as you take precautionary advice then you should be able to enjoy your stay in Tunisia and be unaware of any such threat.

With an abundance of attractions, a holiday to Tunisia is an excellent choice of destination providing the ideal escape for both those who like to take things easy and the more adventurous.
