Have completed Saga xword but can't work out 23a) Weekend in Paris for example (9) would seem to be Franglais but why?

weekend is the english word used in france instead of the usual french word for weekend. FRENCH/ENGLISH

Still puzzled Barmy! Are you saying the French say "weekend " for a Saturday & Sunday?
Yes I think they actually say 'Le Weekend'
