Woke up to sunshine and now it is absolutely pouring down!! Cannot believe there is any rain left in the sky - so depressing. On a positive note winter will look quite good compared to this appalling summer.

it's still raining so looks like will be in for the rest of the day. Can't abide this cold and wet
Yes Smowball, North Norfolk. London by birth, but have been here for 33 years!!
Actually it's sunny here now and warm, but muggy. Not a pleasant day at all.

I lived in Norfolk for quite a few years, know it fairly well. Spent many a day at sunny hunny(Hunstanton)
We are nearer Fakenham.

Lol thats right by where I used to live - I did my weekly shopping there!
Come on guys it could be worse i would rather have rain the no water at all that would really give u all something to moan about and me.
We haven`t had any sun here for days. It`s going to be nice tomorrow though. I`ve never seen so many slugs and snails. I put some pellets down yesterday and I`ve just been out on the patio. It`s carnage out there. There are about 15 dead slugs and lots of snails and slime everywhere. It`s revolting. I hope it rains now and washes it away because I can`t bring myself to clear it up.
Dry here at the mo, West Mids.
Were you in a village Smowball? North, south, East, or West of the town?
Hi all - dry (wow) here in Leicestershire this morning, but cloudy and much warmer than yesterday. Got absolutely drenched in town yesterday, my shoulder bag and shoes are still wet inside! I agree its such a shame about the garden, just been outside to tie our poppies up, they were fantastic, huge frilly heads but the water has weighed then down and they have flopped all over the path and lawn. I decided this year I would have a change of bedding flowers, usually have begonias as they flower their heads off until November so I have planted my side border in red, white and blue petunias in honour of Her Maj. What a disaster - worst flowers of all to grow in wet Summers, they have all gone to jelly, so soggy and have hardly flowered! I have had to buy my usual begonias to plant in between to have some colour at least. I picked up 47 dead snails amongst them the other night, they adore petunias! I hate putting slug pellets down because of the birds/hedgehogs but they are chomping everything in sight :(
Aren't they bad for our wildlife BJ, such as song birds and hedgehogs?
We have some pet-friendly slug pellets bright blue - but not sure if the birds would eat a dead poisoned slug or not?
A Thrush probably would.
Thats what I was afraid of ladybirder - still I have loads of blackbirds who eat slugs in the garden and haven't seen any dead ones yet (hope I don't!)
I should read through this Ann, and make a decision. Personally, I won't use them, although the blue ones are safer they can still kill.

Yes, it was a lovely morning so I did some washing and put it on the line. Suddenly it starts drizzling even though the sun is shining. I leave it a while but eventually I bring it in. Ten minutes later the sun is beating down and there are no clouds so I put it back out. Within 10 minutes I hear the rain pouring down again. So frustrating
Can't believe it, the sun is actually shining here!! (east of Edinburgh) It was raining earlier, I may venture out into the garden later. No problems with slugs on my petunias, as we have two hedgehogs who like a wander around the garden in the evenings, as well as our resident frog - no idea where he comes from as there are no ponds nearby and there's a little mouse who visits eating up the sunflower seed dropped by the birds at the feeders - not sure if this is a house or a petting zoo as there are also 4 cats and a goldfish!

Well I guess I'm on my own again in loving the rain. Every summer I get cream crackered carrying buckets of water upstairs to the roof terrace to water our many plants when the water two butts are empty. And to water everything takes a whole water butt, so you get the picture. On top of that I also have to carry water downstairs to water our border as nobody else in the other flats would dream of doing it. It's hard work when you have to do it every day for 6/8 weeks at a time. So, at the moment, I'm loving it. And I love to lie in bed at night and listen to the rain falling. Mind you if we had floods like some of you have had then I wouldn't be so happy.
