The Express is obsessed with the weather.
What I continually remain baffled by is, when the television news talks about snow, they always have some poor sap standing out in a blizzard in a North Face jacket, talking about snow.

I was around in 1963, I know what snow looks like! Just tell me it's snowing, I'll understand, you don't have to show me someone standing out in it for me to know what 'It's snowing ...' actually means!!!
The Express prints this story every year, not been correct yet!
andy, were you watching it on TV in 1963? TV needs visuals. These reports get picked up in other countries; but how are you going to sell a report on UK winter snow to (say) Dubai TV if it's only people sitting round a table indoors?

As far as the Express piece goes, the headline seems over the top; they appear to have produced just two forecasters saying the weather will be colder than usual. And they may well be right, we won't know till it's over; meantime, being prepared for the worst is a pretty sensible suggestion for this time of year.

I will purchase and edible hat just in case but looking milder than average at the minute.
No problem with forecasting - thats difficult - but the express have gone way overboard just for the headline.

jno - I was nine in 1963, I'd have been out sledging in the never-melting ice and snow that we had for about three months that year.

I loved it then, I wouldn't be so keen if it happened now though!
Quoi, one of the forecasters it quotes even mentioned mild periods in December but said (quite rightly, I think) that it doesn't prove that the whole winter will be that way.
Oh for the days when snow laid on the ground for weeks
I was 10...I still remember London being white and silent which was just about unheard of.
Like what it did in 1947 Bazile

A few years later - i'm not that old , you know :-0
:-)
When I was a kid, snow used to lie around forever and we'd play out in it until we froze! If it sticks around for two days now, it's a talking point ...
Surely you did not believe that weather report?!?

And the last I heard was that bookies had stopped taking bets on a white Xmas!!!
Do they know something we don't??
Exactly hereIam! Young people today ..... (sound of door softly closing).
I remember that too Woofgang! I loved it.
I'd absolutely hate it today though andy - no longer a kid !!

I was only looking at the forecast because I like the idea of a bit of snow.
...makes hasty exit
best bet would be to live on top of the Express HQ for a while, Quoi.
