I've been using the outlook caledar for many years, mostly in the year view, it's now starting to play up and when it does work it gives the the message: In 2024 outlook is replacing windows mail and calendar. I'm also using Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 for emails (The most recent Microsoft Office that I have a disc for). Am I going to be up the creek for calendar and email? What would be my best way forward?
Switch to Thunderbird:

^^^ You can use any email address with Thunderbird. Try using the wizard to automatically set up the account. If you can't get that to work though, you can set up your account manually, using the IMAP and SMTP settings shown here:

Brilliant Buenchico, many thanks.
My outlook email is still working ok at the moment but if there is any trouble at all I'll be going Thunderbird.
Just another thought, could I run both together at the same time? I'm sure my current outlook set up is POP3, but from what I can see IMAP might be more appropriate.
You can have as many email clients as you like on your computer.
With POP3 though, the default setting is to remove an email from the incoming server when it's downloaded to your email client. So a second email client looking for it wouldn't find it. (i.e. an email would only show up in the first client used to access the account after it had arrived). It's possible to change the default setting so that a copy of the email remains on the server but that can sometimes lead to problems. It makes far more sense to use IMAP, where emails always stay on the incoming server.
