I left a parcel for Xmas into my doctor and chemist.
One of the receptionist at doctor's had to come from the back as the parcel was too big to go through the window.
Guess what she said - you know "jenny we know you are on your own and so we are sending you a full Christmas dinner down to you on Xmas day. Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat - no way and of course thanked her - I have already had two invitations and I am not taking any of them. like me own grub too much and me son Maxie is with me of course.
Wasn't that very nice !!

anyway also would you believe a Housing Officer is visiting her too in the hospital to talk about things - he is coming at the same time so I can't be there - but I believe he doesn't want anybody there anyway.
This is will be a "funny" day. We will see what happens with the whole shebang. At least things are moving a little but sister should be moving definitely more. So that could be a problem.
well an update to anybody interested. 2 physios came to the house I was there and they did mention that she does have a parlour a bed could go there but they know she will never want that - too afraid. I said that. They said if she walked much much better then she could handle the stairs, then I said what about the steps outside - they said well if she can handle stairs in the house she can handle the steps which are indeed very wide.
Anyway there is a small bungalow round her and she had a housing officer visitor and he told her she can have it if she wants. Now she has never been in this bungalow - does have one bedroom but doesn't know if the living room is biggish etc.
But some friend of hers told her on the phone - like my sister will get older and perhaps more frailer the bungalow might suit. But sister knows that whoever gets her house is getting an excellent house as I was there today and now new doors windows slates rooves chimney pots - all have been renovated - they are just finishing off the guttering.
So it's a choice sister has to make but how is she going to view the bungalow whilst in hospital. That's it.
Anybody have an idea of what she could or should do. thanks
Maybe have a word with Physio or Occupational Therapy to see if they could arrange a home visit to visit the bungalow. I would think its do-able with wheechair, hospital transport (or even taxi organised by hospital if transport not available). They could assess the suitability of the property at the same time
Rosetta - a good idea - .
I know her house is too big for her - like who wants a parlour never used only for more ornaments unbelievable.
She has two very big bedrooms - one is only used for herself and the other is another ornament.
The bungalow definitely would suit her but boy do I know her.
But I also think she knows she is getting older etc.
There is a neighbour down my street - nice enough but doesn't neighbour as such but it is her sister's bungalow. The sister died about 3 weeks ago and I was wondering could this neighbour answer any questions.
She does have one daughter (who doesn't live with her) but she is very pleasant and I feel I could ask the daughter if ever I got to see her.
My own sister won't get something similar right near to her own house - near the road, near her familiar taxi drivers like her familiar stuff - and she doesn't want to go in to those folds etc.
Hope she does be happy with whatever she does.
