Snow monster Children's Christmas cartoon film from 80's-90's... HELP!

Hi guys, I REALLY hope you can help me here... I'm trying to remember the name of a film/movie that was out in the 80's-90's. It was a Christmas cartoon that I had on video as a child... it wasn't a proper movie or anything.
The video's main story line was about these grey snow monsters that were living in the forest. They had long fringes that covered their eyes and large noses. There was a young snow monster who had a red nose. My memory is very hazy but at one point the elves who lived in the village near the forest made a wooden sign that had a painted picture of one of the snow monsters / abominable snowmen on it with a big red cross through it, to show the other elves/people that they were in danger. The older monsters warn the young one to keep away from the people and vice versa. It all turns out that they meet and end up friends, anyway!
Sorry for my digression! I hope someone knows the film I mean, as I want to show it to my younger siblings this Christmas.
It MAY have been called something like Animated stories for children.. blah blah blah.
Hope you can help!
