Golda Meir 1898-1978 was a founder and fourth PM of Isreal. Born in Kiev, age 8 emigrated with her family to USA. Moved to Plaestine 1917. Ploitical carrer began when she lived on a kibbutz and became involved in the labour movement. Signed indpeendence declaration in 1948. Worked as ambassasor to Soviet Union, minister of labour and foreign minister before being elected PM in 1969, resigned in 1974. Died of chronic leukaemia.
